Task 1 questionaire results

My questionnaire was based on personal fitness I was aiming to find out what is the dominant age of the consumer who would buy this type of magazine.

I found out  that the average age for the consumer for this type of magazine is 12-26 furthermore I need to base my magazine around this age group by putting in information and images that are relevant to the age group and also to the magazine.

my audience is based on a men's fitness furthermore I need my magazine to apply to men.
in my questionnaire I found out that men want to know how to get bigger arms so the main section will be on how to develop your arms to get them bigger.

I will use several images to demonstrate the usage of dumbbells to develop muscle tone.
and make it a grown up magazine so that the older age range don't feel child like also the younger boys can feel grown up which can boost their confidence.

Task 3

Following task 2 of the front covers and magazines here is some of the research i have found.

The average fitness magazine cost around 80p - £1.20 which is a resonable price for the product.
most fitness magazines are owned by the same comapny just like coca cola owns fanta, sprite, coke, pepsi, etc this type of management is quite common so for this exception the fitness magazines of today are mainly owned by the same company which then enduce large profit form these magazines because there is a large range of magazines that the consumer can chose from.

you can buy these types of magazines from practically anywhere everyshop would have a magazines isle of a stand which allows you to acess these magazines easily without going out of your way.

i have decided that my magazine will cost about 90p and it will contain a lot of information about how to stay flexible but strong with keeping your arms big and chunky which allow men to look like the image provided.

the fact i am only creating one magazine i will not have to worry about

Task 2 Examples of Magazines (Fitness)

This is an example of a men's fitness magazine front cover.
This is an attractive look for men which will allow men to see that and want to buy it so they have a body like that.

on this front cover the model is ripped which shows the results of this magazine and the results you could have if you buy this magazines.

the colours on this page make this front cover eye catching which attracts the male audience.

This is and example of a female fitness magazine front cover. its attractive and that what most women want to be so seeing this front cover will get them to buy it so that they can look like this.

Women would buy this becasuse it is seductive to them and it will allow them to have the same results as this fit model.

Overall the front cover of a fitness magazine needs to be eye catching with a main image that shows the consumer what they could look like if they buy it furthermore if they do buy it they should not be let down. the front cover needs to have a colour scheme linked the the sex of the consumer so women would be pink and red (hot colours) and men would be blue and black (manly and muscular) and this will show the difference between the two genders. if the model on the front is seductive then it will encourage that chosen gender to buy it.

Task 2 Codes and Conventions of a Magazine

A Masthead: The title used by known typography to make the readers become familiar with what magazine they are reading.

Main Image: Typically consisting of a leading artist(s) or band(s) within the music genre of the magazine, to attract readers.

Strapline: Seen as an introductory headline below the main title (the masthead), to give an insight to the magazine.

Top and Bottom Strip: These are the strips below and above the magazine that give further information to what may be included in the magazine. Mostly being the interesting parts of the magazine.

Pug: ‘The ears of the magazine’, can either be at the top left or/and right-hand corners of the front cover. The prices of the paper, the logo or a promotion are positioned there or even a freebie is placed there to catch the reader’s eye. When the reader is to open the magazine it is likely that they are too see the pug this of which can aware them on the positive aspects inside the magazine.

Tag: This doesn’t have to be on the front cover but I believe that it makes the magazine more efficient as the word or phrase is used to engage a reader’s interest in a story by categorising it e.g. ‘Exclusive’, ‘Sensational’, this showing that the magazine has high compliments.

Coverlines: The essential articles inside the magazine are stated through sell lines, these are regularly seen at the right hand side of the cover.

Left Third: The left third contains the main feature article (Exclusive interview or ‘Puff Piece’), as this is the core part of what may be inside the magazine. It also includes the main artist or band situated within.

Barcode/Dateline & Price: A dateline in which the date of publish and the price are shown, the barcode is just the importance of the retailer.

Keylight: Usually highlighting the main artist or featured lines, (Coming from the left hand side onto the right).

My content policies play an important role in maintaining a positive experience for you, the users. Please respect these guidelines. From time to time, we may change our content policies so please check back here.
